It has been a great trip (of shopping and eating)… Although was chopped like a carrot on the first night there, the seafood dinner was too expensive, recommended by the cab driver that send us to the Hotel… but it is very funny that the next cab driver that sends us to the Restaurant used to work in Singapore… LoL
Cabbies are still mostly touting in Bangkok… They Love Farangs (Tourists in Thai), because they can chopped us like carrots when we take their cabs… they tend to charge double than using Meter…
Went to Patpong at night, and saw my first “Thai Girls” show… very illegal and disgusting anyway… And “sort of” feel threatened in the end, paid up and leave the dodgy place fast…
Had a first “being surrounded by many Thai Chinese males” trying to pull us into the “Gogo Boys Clubs” experience, managed to peek and see some guys in “CK look-alikes White Undies” doing Pole Dancing while escaping from the alley… Was very irritated at first but after managing to dodge, it feels very funny that they keep telling us inside got “shuai ges (very handsome guys)”
Very sad that I did not buy the “Miu Miu” bag, it is very appealing but at Patpong sure more expensive than any other places… The first night ends at us going back to Hotel after seeing their seedy nightlife…
Did 2 days of shopping… Chatuchak Weekend Market, Platinum Mall, MBK, and a little of Pratunam Market...
First was Chatuchak Weekend Market on Saturday morning, and we only managed to complete like 1/3 of the Market only… And it is too warm and crowded to continue anyway… Managed to buy somethings there, and being a “seasoned traveler” in Bangkok, I brought along a sling bag for the purchases…
Next was Platinum Mall at Pratunam (opposite Amari Watergate), it has become very crowded now, think too touristy and places are more expensive that what it used to be… but I managed to buy more things there… We went back there on our last day for about 4hours of shopping…
Went MBK on the 3rd day, MBK used to be a must-go shopping center, now with Platinum Mall, I only brought 2 tops there… but found very cheap contact lens for my brother… Focus Dailies 30 lens (15 pairs) at 400Baht (S$16.50)… Actually wanted to buy their Thai Brand contacts, Daily lens; 10 lens (5 pairs) for 180Baht (S$7.50), but Fiona and bf managed to find this optical for the cheap contacts… they bought like at least 6 months supply… LoL
Local goodies at MBK is also a must if you have no chance to go Chinatown… cheaper than Airport lah, but definitely slightly more expensive than outside… I bought 800Baht (S$30+) worth of goodies…
Bought the "Silk Robe" for my sister at a Bargain (I hope so), the store owner quoted me 480Baht, but because I'm the first customer, he agreed to sell it to me at 350Baht, hope his sales has really been "lucky lucky" for the rest of the day...
The 2nd night was an expensive dinner at the ex-The State Tower (The Dome), now I think it is a luxury hotel named The Lebua.
We had fine dining at the 64th floor restaurant (The Sirocco), overlooking a pretty skyline of the Bangkok lights… it was kind of pity that it rained… so we had to shift inside after 5 minutes of sitting at our table… LoL, it is similar to our Equinox with nicer scenery and outdoor dining… I think we are the most under-dressed patrons for the night…
The Lemon Grilled Spring Chicken is very delicious, it wasn’t supposed to be so filling but I couldn’t finished my Main Course, maybe it was the free flow bread that filled me up more!! Dinner was around 1500baht for myself, thats works out to be S$60+, luckily due to the rain we have complimentary Champagne... 250ml of Evian costs approximate S$4 (380baht for 1000ml bottle)
Did 1hour of foot massage with Gina on the 2nd night (after the fine dining at Sirocco), it was very relaxing and clean… When washing my legs, the water is super hot think more than what our body is accustomed to (or maybe just because my feet is cold from the rain)… it feels hotter than the 42degrees Celsius from the Hot Spring in Taipei…. and the person who massages my legs is an 18-year-old male teenager (younger than my brother)… Haha, I feel so old, think he is shocked to hear that I’m ermm… 27 this year… LoL… He keep asking whether I’m cold, but due to the medicated oil (menthol feeling) they are using on our legs, I don’t feel cold…
Wanted to do another foot massage on the 3rd day but we had no chance to bath, and down to our last dollar, Gina and I had to leave for Singapore with aching legs…
Btw Hotel PJ Watergate is satisfactory, it is more of a superior tourist hotel (around 2.5 to 3 star rating), but I’m quite disappointed that they charge me 10baht when I asked the reception for helping me check out where is The Sirocco, and how to tell the Cabbie… Otherwise, they provide me with a clean room to sleep 5-6 hours at night and provide me with American Breakfast… Haha...
Super sian with Tiger Airways lah, delayed for 30mins... We were all sitting and waiting at the Boarding Area for around 1hour... So please expected delays if you are taking Tiger Airways...
I went with a 7kg baggage and returned with a total of 12kg baggage (2 bags)… LoL…I definitely missing the cheap clothes, food and massage already… Next time, I’m gonna do foot massage every day while in Bangkok… 1hour for 160Baht (that’s around S$6.50)…
Pictures will up next...
